31st March 2009 - Rants forum returns

Today we have reinstated the rants section of the forums. This is the perfect place to get something off your chest, tell us if there’s something you don’t like, or perhaps just have a general rant. It was a stupid idea to take it away in the first place; I’m really sorry that we removed an opportunity for players to tell us about the things that they don’t like about the game, and as promised we are working on various ways to improve your ability to talk to us.

Don't worry about venting any issues that you have in the rants forum - that’s exactly what it’s for. It is always more helpful to hear proposed solutions to problems rather than just the problem itself, but don’t suppress your rant just because you can’t think of a solution. We genuinely want to hear your feedback, so feel free to tell us if there’s something you’re not fond of.

Runescape players are important to us, and we want to give you a forum where you can let us know when things are not right. We will be spending time on the rants forum, reading through your posts and working to put right any problems that you highlight. So let us know if there’s a part of the game or player experience that you do not like, and we’ll do our best to fix it.

Lastly, if you feel there are things we are doing really well, or if you have some RuneScape love you want to share, just drop us a post on the runescape game feedback forum.

Have fun!

When you reopen Bounty Hunter? Jagex!

I think every runescape player knows the news about BH.
27th February 2009 - Temporary Closure of the Bounty Hunter Craters. And now about 20 days past... Jagex did not reopen the BH, God damn.. Give back our pking our wildness. We miss it so much..

Temporary removal of Bounty Hunter.

We have temporarily closed the entrances to the Bounty Hunter craters while we fix a few problems with it. Broadly speaking, we are looking to fix the following issues:

* The level-matching system wasn’t working at all well, with players often ending up in unfair battles they were unlikely to win.
* With the launch of PvP worlds, Bounty Hunter suddenly became less populated, which meant the bounty mechanic stopped working properly. We still love the idea of a bounty mechanic with players being given targets, but we think it can be done so much better, especially given what we have now learnt from PvP worlds.
* Real-world trading was occurring at quieter times of the day.

Don’t worry, Bounty Hunter isn’t disappearing forever - we’re just disabling it while we fix the problems. Bounty Hunter will be back.

We do not intend to reset the hiscores tables associated with the minigame, and will make sure that everyone’s hard work on those hiscores is not lost.

You will still be able to use the Bounty Hunter bank and the games necklace teleport to the area.

I got some messages from official forum... Lots of guys' words are very polite. But I think we (players)are vulnerable groups to jagex. We do what they told us... Ok, they close the BH, what we can do now? Just waiting? No, it's just give me reason to quit runesape.
And what they said it's different from what they used to be. So I would tell my parents to cancel the payments for the member fee. But the goods is not as descriptive. We have rights to cancel the payments.
I decide say no to jagex. Even they use the money we pay them to hire lots of lawyers against me.

Let me show the messages to u:

  • Some guys said: awesome, looks like i finally have a reason to permantly quit.... the only reason why people play runescape instead of WoW (apart from computer capabilities) is the fact you can kill players for all their stuff which creates an element of excitement.. oh well .
  • Nick : I'd have to agree on some of these circumstances, Real World Trading(runescape money) will be impossible to do for a short time being, but I'm sure they'll be back sooner, or later. Which means, this is a pick rock in their window... *does some wierd dance* I think the RWTing issues are getting resolved quite quickly, & efficiently. Thanks,
  • lee: Well, one real good thing about this is that for a little while at least, RWT will be 100% impossible. Something that's been wanted by some of us for an extremely long time!
  • Some other guys said: I've been hearing alot of garbage about 50-80% loot (runescape gold) system. I'm really not liking this fabricated system of loot.
If this is what will be implemented, then I will have to quit bounty hunter and possibly RuneScape.
  • Edit: Also i've been hearing about a new Penalty system were it might be longer and has the ability to remove the penalty glitch. i would be thankful for this part. let me know.

  • Lots of player: Just want their WILDERNES !!! (old pk) given back. 95% of rs player want it back. no1 give a **** of wat nerds trade irl . we all want to kill and get a fair drop from kiling, if u wont back in old pking u will lose ur customers for membership or wven runescape .. be smart ppl back in old wild... (soulfire rullz )
  • But some guys think

    1. Not everyone only cares about PKing - easily more than half of RuneScape players find it decidedly boring.

    2. RWT was destroying RuneScape - just think of the times when we were swarmed with bots, and how much everyone complained about THAT. If you like, its their fault that the limits came in the first place!

    3. Its only for a little while! Be patient.

To all the people saying that they're going to quit RS/Bounty Hunter because of this, are the people that we really don't want in RS.

  • Can't you see that Jagex is making the game BETTER for all of us? The people that should be bothered by this is Real World Traders, but for all of us legit players, it's great that Jagex are really going to crack down on a well-known RWT method - Bounty Hunter! Better? ahah instead of we lose what real game!!!
  • So in other words, before you go bashing Jagex, just remember that:

    a) Without them you wouldn't be here in this runescape game having fun at all.

    b) They haven't even announced what these updates will be, so stop saying that they're going to ruin Bounty Hunter. If anything, they'll make them better, since it's gotten less popular with the introduction of PvP worlds!

Keep up the good work Jagex!

  • lock: hope jagex relises that it is IMPOSSIBLE! to due away with real world trading unless you COMPLETELY remove trading, moster drops, the assist system, coinshare, lootshare, and any other method of transfering ANYTHING at all.
  • Jack: hope the Jagex team realises by being so uptight about somthing such as rwt which is impossible to get rid of there ruining their once fun game called runescape.
  • Some suggestions to improve bounty hunter:
1-the range of levels is crazy 55-100? a more even range lvl would be better
2-fix the target system which accually puts you againts somone your own lvl (powerleveling).
3- allow more people inside the crater per world.
  • I think it's ridiculous it took them 2 years to remove it. They care about RWT when it suits them. They care about customers when it suits them. They care about the game when it suits them. They just do what they want and everyone has to go with it.
  • I agree with everyone spamming 'failscape'.

And these words are on runescape forum. you know what players said on other forums ? Bull shit... Go to hell jagex...and other words you supposed to know.

Jagex should fight with RWT, but dont let players lose the fun the pking at bh.
And what is rgp online? without pking? <_>!!!
Now what? suppose to wait another 20 days?

Runescape Money Tips

These tips will show you some great ways to make money in RuneScape!

Runescape Money-Making Tips

  • Vinny_Nick92 - OK. first i wanna say sal, ur website is wiked.ok the tip. if you have about 50k Runescape Money this works rilly well.... go to fallador and buy lobs at 150 gp until you have no more money...then, go to west varok bank in world 1 and sell for 250-300 gp ea!!!!!!!! i gotta tell you that this has done wonders for me and i make almost 1 mil a week!!!!!!(if you have enough money) and repeat this process..(feel free to add me-vinny_nick92)happy money making!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Starfire509 - starfire again. i have a really good way 2 make aroung like 11k-how many $$s you want. first get some flax, then make them into bow strings. then do the same thing over and over until you have how ever many bow strings u want. Then make then into notes and sell them 4 100gp each. I got like, 58k by doing this. =)
  • Clinton Woo - I would like to say awesome site sal! Ok, if you are a member, get your theiving to 29. Then go to east Ardougne and pick the south house a few steps east then go upstairs and disarm trap on the norther chest and you will get 3gp and a nature rune, repeat alot and put in bank and sell to players for 300-350 gp each! I made 34k from only 91 runes!
  • Justrkomore - A good way to make money is to make strength potions. To do this bring a sharp weapon with you to Varrock sewers. Run through the entire sewer until reaching a web. Slash it open and run south then west until you reach some deadly red spiders. Take their eggs. Now give the eggs and 5gp to the apothecary to make a strength potion. Then sell them to high leveled pkers.
  • Rouge Menace - Hey Sal, you may remember me from such forums as, YOURS! Anyways I have two money making tips to do with theiving.
    1. At 20 theiving, steal silk in ardougne and put them in the bank. Later you can sell them somewhere, like varrock or if you avoid the stall for a bit, Ardougne.
    2. At 35 theiving steal fur at the fur stall in Ardougne. Then sell them to that guy in varrock that buys them.
BY COMBINING THESE TIPS YOU CAN STEAL SILK TILL YOU CAN STEAL FURS THEN STEAL FURS TILL YOU GET ENOUGH FUR Happy trails
    ~Rouge
  • 03jgarland - I always hear people asking about how they can make "fast money." The truth is, there's no such thing. I'm an avid fisherman, and I can usually make about one million gold in three to four hours. That's great money, but it took me ages to get where I am. My advice to anybody that wants to make money is to just stick with it. Nothing in life, whether it be virtual or real, is ever free.
  • Jewelly55 - this tip is a gud money makin scheme thatll make u about 300-500k per hour... wot u need 2 do is get ur theivin 2 about 27(ish) make it 30 2 be sure, then wot u wanna do is head in2 ardougne from the east and go in one of the houses on the way on in2 the town square (with all the stalls) and upstairs is a chestand if u disarm the trap and open it ther is a few nats inside, then u go down-stairs and bak up to disarm the trap and repeat this for as long as u wnt. my record in an hour is bout 6,000,
    jewelly p.s likin the website
  • Rahsk - Runecrafting!!!! I make so much money with it. Use the runesellers teleport in Varrock, mine rune ess, teleport out, run to bank, repeat as nesscesary. Eventually when you get good enough you can craft law runes (about 1k for each rune as of Feb. 2005). When your mining runes you can visit other sites since it doesnt stop mining until you hav a full inventory. I love this site!!!!!
  • Aragorn EX - Sup sal! You have a great site! anyhow a great way to make money is mining rune essence. Just go to aubrey and select teleport (you have to complete rune mysteries quest) and mine away! Go and put it in your bank and repeat. When you get like 500-1000 sell for 20-30gp each. People always buy. Big mulah!!!
  • Skylar - first off sal u rock.this tip is good for non-members.go to the chicken coop on the east side of the bridge in lumbrigde.then go north until u see the chicken coop kill chickens and take their feathers then sell them tp people(not stores)for about 5gp each.its easy to get about 200 feathers and get 10k off of that.
  • Razorslice - Hi, Sal. Even though I submit so many times. Maybe u will submit this time. Anyway,u can get tons of gp a day using this. Start with ur iron or bronze and make pl8bodys,skirts,legs,full and med helms, and ur customers choice of wep. Say ur selling male & female iron sets for 1.5k each maybe, or something else. U'll attract lots of attention in a busy area. Once u've got their preference e.g. pl8body or chain, med or full helm, pl8 legs or skirt, etc. go down and make it and return 2 sell. U'll make tons and u can do the same with mith, addy, rune, steel and any others. Since u could sell full rune 4 about 200k a set, with 5 customers u can make one mil!!!! I did this and now I have over 20mil!!!! I am spending it on zammy, guth and sara armor. Add me, Sal, 'Razorslice'. Yo! :)
  • *Runeboy9991 - Hi was up sal! i have invented another glorious money making tip , you will need 25 fletching, and 15 wood cutting. first cut about 1000 oak logs in the bank and make them in to oak bows with your knife then put loads of strings on then then sell them to a ranging store and you will get about 1.5k for 28 of them!
  • Razorslice - HI Sal. Ur site rox. Anyways, I am a multi-millionaire that makes male and female armour sets. U say u make male and female armour and sell 4 a fixed price like 1k for an iron male or female set. Female includes med helm, chainbody and pl8skirt, male includes full helm, pl8body and pl8 legs. This gets u money, mining and smithing xp. Also, as u get higher, make better metal sets and sell them. I can make rune sets with I sell 4 500k ea! Thats 2 sets 4 1 mil!!!!!!!!! Add me if u want, 'Razorslice! Yo Sal. Have fun making huge cash!!
  • Huggy_Bear13 - My Tip Involves 44 Runecraft , I myself am at 65 Rc so this is a sure fire way of making money for all you people. Ok at 44 Runecraft You can make natures. these sell 400ea.. I'll be serious with you here, I've managed.. 1.7m in a single day selling em 335 when i was just a noob rune crafter.. now im 65 and I rock. This IS the fastest cash in RS2
  • Rowanfletch - ok, firstly i'd like to say SAL THIS IS THE BEST SITE FOR RUNESCAPIANS (l0l) I HAVE EVER BEING TO. back to buisness, a great way for non-memberss to make money is fishing, my fishing is fairly high and i kan make decent money. but if your fishing is low why not say, buy lobs 150gp ea then sell them 200gp (cooked, you kan also do this with other items)
  • Punisher9900 - A gr8 way to make money is to range dragons and sell everything they drop even bones. I fond its best to do it on blue dragons in the Taverley dunjun and the heros guild basement. The bones sell for 3k each and they can drop rune meds i think high alched for 18k and they can drop level 3 clues, steel stuff, herbs ect. You can make alot this way. In Taverley you can hide behinds like mushrooms and the east corner of the heros guild dragon cage is the only place the dragon cant get to.
  • Bigball58 - BIG BONES!If u wanna make money quick kill giants and colloect there big bones.BY doin this u will also up combat lvls. sell each big bone 4 300 ea and u will get money in no time.3 giants equal 900gp.
  • Estellio IV - For non-members go to wizards circle near varrock. Now kill dark wizards and u can get chaos, natures, laws and elemental plus sometimes coins. I took me just 3/2 hours to get full mith!
  • Hellsquire - Sal, your site is the GREATEST!!! It helped me so much on Rune! Thanks to Sal, I'm not a noob anymore! (Oh yeah, the tip...) Mine rune essence. You just have to do the rune mysteries quest and then keep teleporting to rune ess from Aubury. His shop is really close to bank. It takes about 5 minutes to get 200 ess and you can sell this for 1k!
  • Glenn240 - OK i just want to say that Sal's website is DA BOMB!OK, now to the money u have to have at least lvl 15 minning. You go to edgeville and take a pickaxe into the wildy once u reach lvl 1 wildy make a left until and u reach the top of the ice mountain boarder you go north until u find a minning spot mine coal there until u have full inventory then go to edgeville bank and store it and do it again! It works i got 100k from it. Coal is worth 200 gp each!!!
  • Moodyteen666 - ok this is totally the best way for members. nature running. you can get about 150-300k an hour! its great money! and its very easy to do! i highly recommend it! or like me you make your own nats since they sell for 400 each! great easy cash!
  • Demon6590 - Hey, b4 i start 2 tip, this is a great site sal!:) But neway, if u wnt 2 mak a lot of money buy the unstrung symbols from shops, and string em. If u feel like it, enchant them as well. I did it and it doubles ur money if u sellit 2 a shop wit no strung symbols in. Wen i was low lvl i did this, made 20k in an hour!:)
  • Pav01 - Sal You rock! If you are a pretty good mage say about 40 or 50 magic go to karajama island. go down the rope nto the cave. There are lesser demons. They drop lots of cash and even rune meds. that sell for about 10k-15k(feel free to talk to me in runescape) pav01
  • Tommy M 10 - Right, hi all, Tommy M 10 here! ok then, if you are lvl 30 or more, get loads of good food (e.g tuna, lobbies, etc.) but actually fish for them. then, go to white knights fortress and kill loads of em (they lvl 36). They drop loads of good stuff like: 2 law runes, 5 nature runes, 30 water runes, 5 mind runes, up to 120gp!!!!, half an apple pie (.....), pot of flour (.....) and 5 mith arrows and 2 adamant arrows!!! not bad, eh !!!! thats all the stuff ive had up to now. peace out!
  • Sokhal - There is a very easy to make money. The requirements you need to do it is: a dusty key, hallberd [any kind(the faster the better]. Ok, so go to Taverley dungeon past the blue dragons, next to the lava eel spot. There are black demons ahead. Anyways, go attack one with your hal and come to the corner of the wall. Start attacking it, it won't touch, it's too big. Keep on killing them. If you have a ring of wealth, you have a good chance of getting a rune med and a chance of getting a drag med. Well, good luck!
  • Ventures777 - this site when u talk about smithing u always say make stell pl8s BUT ure wrong it requires 5 steel bars but if u sell ure steel bars for 500 each u make 2500 instaed of the 1400 u say u get with aclchmey plus u save runes which u could sell for 300 each so 2800 almost double of the steel pl8s !happy money making!
  • Orkerik - K first i wanted to say that Sal's site is the best!My tip is go to the wild and to the lava maze enterence (nonmember and forgot wich lvl of wild)the is a water staff respawn.Go there and take it from each wrold untill your full and go to staff seller in varrock and sel for 1k each!
Warning:There are lesser demons and other pkers so if your a high lvl i dont think brining bery inportant stuff is a good idea cause u might lose em
  • Chaos3333 - I'm sure u will have heard this before but if u want money...pick flax
not only will u get decent crafting experience you can make upwards of 100k a day by selling the bowstrings to fletchers for 100gp each!!! try it out
  • Stanislov - This is a short one, if you buy arrows in a general store you can sell them for much more than it have costed you by selling them in the archery shop
  • Shendrik - Hello everybody! Do you want to make money? Do this: if you are fishing lvl 40 or higher go to Karamja dock with only money and a lobster pot. Then fish your inventory full. Then go back to falador bank and put the lobsters in bank! Then go back and do the samething if you have 250 raw lobsters go to world 1 and sell them for 200ea! It really works! You can to fish 100 lobbies and sell them! I did it and now I have full rune with 200K in bank!
  • Cpkv - ok, before i tell u a tip, just wanna sa sup sal. ok, if u have like .35 theiving than steal like,3k silk. than after u got the 3k silk. Go to ferminik and sell them, or wait like a day but be kinda far away from the silk stall and than sel them 60gp each. happy stealing and dont get caught=)
  • Rach1100 - Okay, this takes a little while but it makes a lot of money. First go to the silk trader in Alkarid and buy all the silk you can. Then go to the clothes store in Varrock and sell them. I made at least 150 gp in 30 minutes.
  • Lysealot - warning u need combat lvl above 70 to do this and a dragon fire shield! what you do is go into lvl 13 wildy and kill green dragons. This gets your prayer up good if you bury your bones and you get combat up fast! collect the hides and store them in edgeville bank. once u have about 50-100 green dragon hides go on forums and sell them for 2k each! its how i make my money and it really works! the more u do it the easier it gets!
  • Umbrella94 - ur probably not goin to print this but hey ill submit anyway. (this is like my 1000000000 time submitting and u havent printed any others) stuff sells for a ton more on karamja general store. i heard that a plain gold ring sold for 500gp! also tunas buy for 30 on the island and sell for 40 on the mainland so if u have 60 gp and in need of money use dis tip!!
  • Mikex134 - was up sal?
Anyway, when you get your fishing and cooking lvls to 40 fish and cook lobbies until you get around 500 lobbies. Then go next to wildy or Taverley dungeon and sell them to people(sell for no less then 150ea).You should get around 75k-100k and a lot of xp. Happy fishing! 8 )
    • long way. If you want to get a lot of money and have a really honest friend then this is for you! First, meet your friend in adrouge and start stealing silk. Then give the silk to your friend and tell him to sell it for 60ea. You'll get 1k680 ea time and you can split that with your friend making it...840 gp ea! Happy thieving!
  • Xia0jing - hey, its me first tip about money...if you can fish tuna/lobs/sworddy..but mostly tuna best...go to karamja, there haf a fishing spot...juz head west...thn head north...get a harpoon/cage to start fishing ... thn later...to train on ur cooking skills, cook the wateva sea creature u got and then sell it to shops...easy money to earn anyway...but only for players who have fishing lvl 35 and above...=) 2nd tip...if ur lvl is not up to lvl 35...no worries...fish at the river...for trout/salmon...cook it and sell it to shops~...only for player wif fishing lvl 20 and above..=)
  • PK the Black - i found an new way of making 100k
in 4-5 hours stay around the chicken farm kill loads of chickens
take all the feathers they cost
10gp-5p each to good felcthers and good fishers get 10,000 feathers
and the sell them about 50 to 100k
  • Nannujerry - Making money tip
If you would want to make somethen follow this tip:
Requirments: at least lvl 16 runecrafting, 1k rune essence.
First mine 1k rune essence then make them air/mind runes. After when you have 2k mind/air runes sell them for about 40gp each. Don't sell them 1 by 1 all at a time. You ill totally get 80k for all of them!
    Cool or what?
  • Zarefore - if you've tried most things but cant make money spin flax(found near seers)into bowstrings(spining wheel also near seers) you can sell for 100 gp each! you can get 2.8k worth of bow string in about 5 mins that means 33.6k per hour! hope i helped!
  • Zip239 - These money making tips are for memebrs only! If you are a member, then the two things you should do, if you are a high enough lvl is to get a ring of wealth, and go fire giant killing. These guys drop dragon med helms, dragon half sheilds, rune arrows, blood runes, and rune scimitars. The second tip is to get 55 magic, then fletch like no tommorow. Soon you can make 200 per when you high alch maple bows, if you get to magic longs then you can get 1550gp per alch!
  • Piken Freak - hey sal nice site! for all runescapers out there go kill giants in deep edgeville dungeon get about 1k big bones and sell them for 300 each at world 1(thats300k!)
  • Alex - a really easy way to make money is to save up to about 50k or a little higher then buy coal 100 each in fallador then sell it for 120-150 each, keep repeating this process untill you can buy more andthe more you sell the more money you get. my freind taught me this hes a lvl 3 and from that he already has 1 mill and a halloween mask!!! obviously it works.
  • PinkFloydBoy - to make money. get a rune pick first of all. then, mine all the gold u possibly can. craft jewelery. (u need a smithing lvl of at least 40 to smelt gold. and u need to be at least lvl 5 to craft nething gold) sell the jewelery to the general store. even just the rings that u can craft at lvl 5 crafting go for 140 gp each. sell 10 of these, and u'll have 1.4 k easy as that. u'll get even more money for better jewelery
  • Evil Person 8 - A really great way to make money fast is to go to the Fur Stall in East Ardougne and steal gray wolf fur until you get up to about 100 furs and then go to Varrock and sell them to the fur trader in the middle of the city. At first he'll give you 150 gp for each, and after alot of selling he'll go down to 120 each, which is still a LOT. This will give you about 12K in less than an hour! (You must have at least lvl 34 thieving to steal from fur stalls).
  • Gonger65 - chop lots and lots of maples till you get at least 1k and the nsell them for 100k. That is how i earn my money fast, and theres good exp. in it too. The average amount of maples i would get per day is probably 500 but i 65 woodcutting so best of luck in earninig your heavy duty cash
  • Iamimortal99 - hi, it's me again, just before i say anything else, i LOVE your site! it's so cool! OK, now to the tips.
When your on to steel smithing, then just smith only steel! don't bother with smithing any more iron.when you get to 47- 49 smithing, you should be able to smith steel plate body's. smith them ONLY, and sell them in local shops!. if you sell around 1000, then you will be rich enought to buy dragon stuff! cool heh? hope this helps. bye! iamimortal99 ( add me if you want :) , i might feel generous...)
  • Pnkpantha007 - This tip is for people who have completed Doric's quest and can mine and smith mith or addy. Go to dwarven mines and mine coal, and mith or addy. Go to Falador furnace and smith, go to Dorics anvil and make shields. Finally, go to shield shop near Falador north entrance and sell the shields. Optionally, you can go to either of the banks and sell the shields.(you can also bank everything, but it takes longer because you have to constantly return to bank.)
  • TowerJack - If you would like to make lots of money on top of raising smithing and mining lvls mine 2k coal, 1k iron, and make 1k steel bars. You can now sell these steel bars for 500 gp each which comes out to a whopping 500,000 gps. or you can buy the coal for 150 each, which comes out to 300k and still make 200k plus the experience from smithing it.
    • Do you have stuff to sell but can't find a buyer? Well, you have 2 routes available to you.
      1. Go to world 1 and try to find a buyer...Its THE Trading world.
      2. Go to various forums and find the marketplace. You should have no problem finding a buyer.
  • Jarad933 - yo i was a noob because i lost full rune in wildy but by sellin yews 300 each i got 254k. I got full rune again so the point is work on woodcuting it rocks. sal ur website rocks!!!!!!!!
  • Chronos Elf - if you want easy money here is the way to do it, if you have a woodcutting level of 30 or higher go to draynor village and by the little fishing spot there are willows, chop heaps down until you get to about 500 logs, then sell them for 10k. this will get you money and woodcutting exp. it doesn't take long, and when you get to level 60 in WC, cut down yews and sell then for around 100-200 runescape gold each. this is VERY easy, it may take a while, but be patient. Thanks
  • Cyborgxxi - Hello there! My first tip on this GREAT website! Okay, here is my tip for the week. Finish off the rune mysteries quest, then go start mining rune essences! Yes, it may seem boring and many people quit on the first 30 minutes. Get about 500~1000 (it will take less than 1~2hours). DONT EVERY SELL THEM FOR 10~15 gold pieces!! Go to world 1 and sell em for 30!! I'm serious! Make some serious cash and come off happy! I'll do it again :D Yippeee!
  • Goddess Lemo - Here is a tip that will get you lota of money. do quest that allows you to mine rune essence. get runecraft to level 14. Keep mining essence until you have 16,200 in bank, then turn them into fir runes in al kharid dessert. Go to Varrock's runeshop and keep on selling 10 at a time for 6gp. when done you should have 97,200gp.(spend wisely) you can repeat process to get even more, but don't sell to much in one rune shop. Try going to sarams port and selling some there, then try other worlds.
  • Mvp 5 - a good way to make cash is str pots you will need red spider eggs and limp roots and 5gp for each str pot u make and sell them for 1-2k(i made over 100k in 2 days)beware the red spiders are lvl 36 and u need to kill hobgoblins for the limp roots lvl 32
  • Flameboy2026 - If you ever walk past a general store, ALWAYS check what it has to sell. One time I had a look, and it had 149 mithril daggers for sale, 12 gp each!!! I bought 23 of them, costing me around 400 gp... But then I went to a sword shop, and sold for 137 gp EACH!!! i made an easy 25k... ALL BY CHECKING THE GENERAL STORE!!!
  • anorectic - A fast way to get runescape money is to sell big bones. sell them for 200 gp each, and you will be richer :)
  • Iamimortal99 - When you first start runescape, try to get your mining level as high as possible, then get to about 60 mining. Then mine loads of mithril ores, then sell them, and save up to buy a rune pick. Then, mine coal and more mithril and sell it, and in no time at all, you'll be rich!!! another way of making money is to go in to the wildy, but only go to lvl 10 wildy MAX!!! and remember to buy loads of cooked lobbys or swordies, as they can help and heal you LOADS. remember to bring the best armour and weapons, but keep in mind that you could die and loose it all!!!
  • Spinny458 - Spinny458 here!!! Im a persistant fletcher who has loads of cash. I have a way to train your archery and/or make millions of gp!
First, chop 1,000 logs and carve them into arrow shafts. Next, aquire 1,000 steel barz and smith em into arrow heads. This may not sound hard but next you need to get 15k feathers. Once you have all those, you should have everything you need to make 15k steel arrows!!!!!! Sell them for 40 gp or more each and you should end up with about..... 600,000 gp!!!! Do the same with other types of arrows to make a fortune!!!! I traded 20k mithril arrows to a guy and I got full Guthix rune!!! Peace out Sal!!
  • Gatesentinel - Also, a great way to get money is by setting a reasonable goal of coal to get everyday, and if you keep on mining that much everyday, eventually you will have a lot of coal. (you can do the samething with other ores)
  • alexcplayer - Theres a awesome way of getting rare items and money!! note:you should be level 45 or above; well anyway, you take 60 coins and go to port sarim, take the trip to karamja and go to the mountains located east, go down and go to the lessers, make sure you bring lots of food, kill lessers and they drop heck alot of stuff, one time i got rune med helm which i sold for 11 k, they also drop gold and runes!!
  • Booksrock3 - find as much limpwurt root as you can then get alot of red spider eggs then have them turned in to strength potions and sell them at the edge of the wild i got a rune scimmy from this
  • Sethwenen - Making money, you are going to think its crazy but if you are level 50 instead of mining coal, mine iron, you can get it most of the times instantly, so is faster, you can have up to 3k of iron in one day, and there is always people that buy it at 100gps, If you mine coal you can mine around 1k a day and it sells at 150gps.Then compare, I make 300k a day (with iron), while other people make only 100k a day, this way, in some days you can be buying all trimmed armours you want, all holyday drops, ammys, weapons, and more.
  • Strongbad - On this site on Sal's moneymaking guide he put something about mining 2000 coal and 1000 iron and smithing it into 200 steel plates and you'll get 196k from high alching them. Well I did this and it worked great. I sold them to horvik and got about half of what you get form high alch but it was still great. I didn't beleive it would be that simple to make money but it was so listen to this site!!!
  • Whitenitrous - Mine coal lots of coal. But if you are like me (lazy) just try getting 100-200 a day 10 days 200 coal up to 250000gp especially in world 1. other wise it gets extreamly boring.
  • Runefreak190 - If you want to get good money and have 50 ranged then go to the Taverley dungeon and range or mage hellhounds because they drop good clues. I have got 3 pieces of god armour from them.
  • Kainui - For all you begginers out there looking for money
Don't mine and sell! Smelt it and make it into amour and weapons! If you only work on mining for money, you'll regret it later and not be able to make your own armour. And you can always sell the finished product when you're done making it.
  • Strongbad - Never buy the coal if you are mining and smithing, because if you buy and sell stuff your profit still decreases even if you get lot. So if you have 100k and you buy 1k coal and smith and sell the stuff and get 90k then your out 10k even if you did get the experience , you should mine the coal and other ores yourself and you'll get lots more money even if it does take more time.
  • Sir Konfuzed - hi, if u r a high lvl non member fisherman (fishing lvl 50 ) i would reckomend you to continue to catch lobsters, instead of swordies.
this is because there is a greater demand for lobsters and they sell for 200ea while swordies sell for 300ea but take twice as long to catch
  • Stonefire66 - the best way to get money by far is to get ur mining levl to 30 and mine coal. keep goin to ur bank wen ur full and wen u hav about 300 go to the centre of varrok and sell 300 for 30-40k!!
  • Dagibit - it can b a pain 2 try 2 make money off yew logs when the local g store is already full, and their only worth 16- try switching servers every time u are full.
  • Big Bad Bullit - Make everything yourself, it might take time, but the profit you make is a huge!
  • Zeimon5566 - if u have a member friend, who likes fletching, train ur woodcutting!!! train till ur woodcutting lv to 30 - 50 and chop down the rarest trees as possible and sell to that friend of urs for 30 - 100. anyway u can chop trees easily.
    • mine coals and sell to a friend of mine(sticky ex). u will earn 120-130coins for 1 coals each
  • Red Kerrin - Ya know how its hard to get money when your not a high level? Well its not anymore. First you can mine iron and lots of it at either dwarf mines or the mines south east of fally. Then when you get to something like 1000 you sell. Its that easy
so far ive made 100k in the last 2 days and im not that high of a level. Try selling stuff in fally east bank. I think that at parts of the day its the best commerce place in runescape.
  • Fizard - a good way to get up to lvl 60 mining and lots of cash is this.
-mine tin tell your level 20 mining
-then mine iron tell your level 60
-then mine inside the mining guild (almost all coal) mine all the coal you can and sell for 100-200 gp
-i made 300k this way in 3 days
  • Montymus - Easy money- if you have 32 quest points an easy way to get money is to mine silver ore south east of varrock and sell them to the lady in the champions guild 30gp for 1 silver ore
  • Luke Serafino - mining is the best way 2 make money. believe me!
mine iron until ur lvl 30 then mine coal which u can sell for 100-200gp depending on the buyer.
  • One Big Tipper - If you are looking to make a lot of money quick would be to go to Falador and go to where the shortcut to the mines is located, get a decent pick and go mine coal down in the mines once you have filled your inventory you should head back to the bank and deposit them. (don't forget about fatigue) Then repeat wait until you have around 1000 coal in the bank. Then head to Draynor village where you can trade the coal for certs (certificates) then head to Varrock square and sell for around 1k each enjoy the spoils! (spend wisely) :)
  • Servant of Zamorak - If u want fast money and ur a member get 5 thieving and go to Ardougne. Then steal 1k cakes from the cake stall. I got 170k in like a day and u can snag choc slices too. Pk'ers buy the cakes about 100-150 each

A Beginner’s Guide to the Quests and Story of lotro

So I made my Lotro character… now what?
Well, there's a lot to be done. But one of the key features of lotro is its intricate quest system and delicately woven story. This guide will help you become familiar with both.

The Story of Lotro Story? What story?
If you're one of the millions who have read the books or seen the movies, The Lord of the Rings has a deep and intricate timeline that follows the trials and hardships of many different characters in the fight against the Dark Lord Sauron. There's plenty of info on the lore of Lord of the Rings to be found at the Encyclopedia of Arda.

How is that handled in the game though?
Through the use of quests and cinematic events, the story crafted by the Turbine and numerous Tolkien Experts will be played out by you, the player.

Okay, so where does my character fit in?
As a dwarf, elf, hobbit, or human, you are one of the many free people of Middle-Earth. Your character's path does not follow in the footsteps of the books' characters, but rather down a different path that was only oft alluded to in JRR Tolkien's notes and appendices. Without spoiling much of what you'll see in lotro, there is a mounting dark force on the rise in Angmar, and it is up to you and the friends you make in the game to thwart it.

I'm familiar with the books, but when does my character begin his “life”?
Well, that all depends on your race. As an elf, your very first steps will be taken centuries before the Fellowship from the books is formed, and as a dwarf you'll begin just before The Hobbit's events take place. The cinematics of each race's beginning quests will bring you up to date, along with the men and hobbits, just as Frodo and Sam are leaving the Shire. It is at this point that the game's story truly begins.During the game process, you will gain some lotro items by killing monster. Then you could sell the items to npc to get some lotro gold. And then buy some good weapons from npc seller. If you have no time to earn lotro money. Click lotro gold to buy.

Top 10 people we'll miss in 2009

With control of the White House turning over in January and the impossibly long election of 2008 slipping into memory, there's a collection of political personalities we'll be hearing less from in the coming year — and whose frequent presence in the news cycle will be sorely missed.

We'll miss their unpredictability, their tell-it-like-it-is TV appearances, or their predilection for conflict and controversy. A few of them are political throwbacks, the likes of which may never be seen again in Washington.

Some of these figures may be back at some point: In politics, goodbye doesn't always mean goodbye. But there's no doubt this cast of characters won't be as ubiquitous in 2009 as it was in 2008, and the world of political theater will be the poorer for it.

Gov. Ed Rendell (D-Pa.): The famously off-message Rendell became a cable news fixture during the 2008 cycle, particularly in the six-week run-up to the Keystone State's Democratic presidential primary.

He's a reporter's dream: a powerful, plugged-in pol who actually speaks his mind. A staunch backer of Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, Rendell famously caused a stir when he told local media that "there are some whites who are probably not ready to vote for an African-American candidate" in Pennsylvania. Later, at the Democratic National Convention, Rendell soured the kickoff to his party's unity-fest when he complained about what he called the "embarrassing" pro-Obama tilt in the media.

He's the first to admit that his loose-lipped ways make him a liability in national politics.

We'll surely be hearing from Rendell again — he's already drawn post-election fire for saying homeland security appointee Janet Napolitano has "no life" — but he won't be a daily presence in our lives anymore. One more reason to look forward to 2012, or a Cabinet appointment that will catapult him back into the national spotlight.

Carly Fiorina: The former Hewlett-Packard CEO reinvented herself this year as a spokeswoman and adviser for the McCain campaign. By the end of the cycle, she'd carved out a role for herself that might be called "mavericky" — sometimes too much so for her candidate's comfort.

Fiorina was a valuable surrogate, on television and on the campaign trail, selling John McCain's economic proposals. But more than once she indulged in what might be called excessive straight talk, first voicing opinions on birth control that clashed with McCain's and later telling MSNBC's Andrea Mitchell that Sarah Palin was not qualified to run a major corporation.

Fiorina has already taken steps to sell lotro gold an active role in public life, appearing on "Meet the Press" during David Gregory's first turn as the show's host. It remains to be seen how her performance on the campaign trail will affect her future political ambitions.

Former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean: Initially seen as a risky choice for chairman of the Democratic National Committee due to his volatile personality, Dean morphed into Lotro Gold of a bland partisan character during his time in Washington. His committee's fundraising numbers were often disappointing, but his 50-state strategy for party development is now seen as a success following the results of 2008.

Dean's departure from the DNC signals a fading of the personalities and debates of the 2004 election cycle, and underscores the sense that a new phase is starting for the Democratic Party. Still, there will always be a place in national politics for a smart, tart-tongued pol like Dean and it's hard to imagine that after a trailblazing presidential campaign and a term as DNC chair Dean will be content to return to a medical practice in Vermont.

Sen. Ted Stevens (R-Alaska): When he lost reelection on Nov. 4, Stevens wasn't just the longest-serving Republican in Senate history and one of the GOP's most powerful members of Congress. He was also one of Capitol Hill's most colorful personalities, prone to public displays of emotion — lotro usually anger.

In 2005, when Congress moved to strip Alaska of its beloved bridge to nowhere funding, Stevens vowed to resign from the Senate. In 2006, Stevens took to the Senate floor after Congress defeated an attempt to open the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, wearing an Incredible Hulk tie and threatening his colleagues: "I'm going to go to every one of your states and I'm going to tell them what you've done."

When Sen. Robert C. Byrd (D-W.Va.) rose to counter Stevens, it resulted in what "The Daily Show" called a "coot-off." But with Stevens convicted of corruption and cast out by the voters of Alaska, it might be a while before Americans see another.

Vice President-elect Joe Biden: Once he's sworn into national office, the loquacious senator from Delaware will have to exercise a level of self-restraint that will not come easy to a man who has spent 36 of his 66 years in the United States Senate. He's off to a good start though, waiting 47 days before giving his first post-election interview.

That kind of discipline will be something new for Biden, whose proclivity for off-color and off-the-cuff remarks have led to his reputation as a gaffe machine. Anybody remember that "articulate and bright and clean" comment? How about "generated crisis"? Or "Barack America"?

We certainly do and, God love ya, we're going to miss the improvisations and spontaneity enabled by a safe Senate seat.

Vice President Dick Cheney: How many politicians, in either party, would respond to a tough question about public disapproval of foreign policy by asking, "So what?"?

And how many would tell a senior senator to "go f***" himself," as Cheney notoriously did to Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) in 2004? Proving his old-school ways, just last weekend the vice president said Leahy "merited it at the time." Now that's what we call straight talk.

For better or worse, Cheney has personified the cold-blooded, do-whatever-it-takes side of the Bush administration. Loathed by liberals and largely hidden from public view, the secretive Cheney's influence over the policies of the past eight years may never be fully understood.

He may not miss the political arena, but it will miss him, since it will likely be a long time before we have another vice president so seemingly insouciant about his public image.

Alan Colmes: After more than a decade as Sean Hannity's sparring partner on Fox News, Colmes is throwing in the towel. The "Hannity and Colmes" co-host has taken more than a few blows in his day, becoming an object of scorn not only for conservatives, but also for liberals who have called him a flimsy counterpart to his hard-hitting conservative rival.

America will miss Alan Colmes for a number of reasons. Like Cheney and Howard Dean, he seems tied up in a political moment that's passing. And after a dozen years with a prominent platform on national television, Colmes's personality still seems so undefined. Will we ever get a chance to know this man?

Sen. Chuck Hagel (R-Neb.): After teasing the media with musings on a possible 2008 presidential campaign (remember the incomprehensible Omaha press conference where he announced that he would later announce something?), Hagel passed on a bid and retired from his Senate seat at the end of his second term. Then, after a trip to Iraq with Barack Obama fueled speculation about a cross-party presidential endorsement, Hagel kept silent in the general election (though his wife, Lilibet, endorsed the Democratic ticket).

Hagel, whose friendship with McCain deteriorated as a result of disagreements on the Iraq war, may have one or two more political strip-teases in store for us. But by leaving the Senate, he's depriving the chamber of a true maverick, the rare pol who could draw mention as a vice presidential prospect for George W. Bush, Barack Obama and Michael Bloomberg.

Rep. William Jefferson (D-La.): We'll miss Jefferson, though not nearly as much as congressional Republicans will. No matter how many of their own were under an ethical cloud, they could always point to Bill Jefferson as an example of how corruption was a bipartisan pastime.

And let's face it — his case was a doozy, something even Nancy Pelosi once acknowledged. "Anybody with $90,000 in their freezer has a problem," she said in 2006. We sell lotro gold since 2006, the most professional lotro gold shop.

Still, Jefferson soldiered on, winning reelection in 2006 and nearly pulling it off again in 2008. While the long shot who defeated him in Louisiana's 2nd District, Anh "Joseph" Cao, is himself a compelling story, it's hard to see how Cao could keep us as mesmerized as Jefferson.

Rep. Christopher Shays (R-Conn.): This was the year that Charlie Brown finally kicked the football. Ahab caught the white whale. Sisyphus got to the top of the hill. The impossible finally happened: After years of targeting him, Democrats defeated Chris Shays, the last Republican House member from New England.

With Shays gone from Connecticut's 4th District, the press will have to find a new token Republican moderate. And the media will need to look elsewhere for agonized public statements about contentious legislation and angst-filled pronouncements about the future of the Republican Party.

Speculation has already started about a possible Senate bid down the line, but Shays has said he doesn't "see [himself] running for any office." If we know Shays, he'll reconsider that statement — publicly — but unfortunately for now, the thoughful veteran legislator will be dropping out of public view.

Maple Story Warrior Guide

A Warrior Guide For Choosing Your Maple Story Character.

Warriors are melee fighters and they are unable to use range attack like other character classes in Maple Story. This means that they can only hit their target up close.

Warriors have the most health and defence in the game which enables them to be able to withstand taking hits from their enemies.

While Warriors can render a lot of damage per hit, they always have to be within short range to the enemies during attacking which can become plain and boring at times.

The Pros of using Warrior as your character class in Maple Story are as follows:

1. Warriors in Maple Story have the highest HP and Defence among all the Maple Story classes.

2. They have the choice of 5 different weapon types to choose from.

3. Warriors can choose between one-handed weapons and two-handed weapons.

4. They can receive nice skills such as Slast Blast which allow them to kill multiple enemies concurrently with a single strike.

And the Cons of using your Warrior character in MapleStory are as follows:

1. Being a Warrior means that you are unable to do range attacks from a distance to attack the monsters.

2. They have a low amount of MP in comparison to other character class such as a Magician.

3. Warriors' damages during attacks can be unstable at times as the damages that they caused can vary a lot.

4. They have low Accuracy and Avoidability when compared to other Maple Story characters.

The above helpful pointers serve as a warrior guide for you when choosing your Maple Story character.

Range
=====

Revised by: X Pk X Str X, Dangoso

Ever wanted to kill that monster without breaking a sweat?
Ever wanted that cape of fire?
Crystal bow?!

Then Range really is the skill for you. Would you be able to do, AND afford to get the fire cape purely on mage and melee? Of course it's possible, yet Range is easily the best choice. And as much as people hate it, farcasting is a skillful tactic used to win Duels and Pk'ing alike.

Ever since the update of Crossbows, people have found a new love to range. First, the max was in the 20s. Then it shifted up to 30s. Now, it's easily in the 60s. Void knight? I mean really, you'd NOT want this cape?

______________
Arrow Droppers
ˉˉˉˉˉˉˉˉˉˉˉˉˉˉ

Rune - Dust Devils, Fire Giants, Range Minigame
Addy - Ankou
Steel - Ava's Accumulator
Bronze/Iron - Minotaurs
Mith Bolts - Chaos Druids (RoW), Waterfiends

If all else fails, you can always smith or fletch your own

________
Weapons
ˉˉˉˉˉˉˉˉ

MSB: The old favorite. It’s cheap, effective, accurate, fast, and can do good damage.

Rune C'bow: My new favorite since they’ve been updated. Gem tipped bolts WILL kill faster than their arrow counterparts and they give a new purpose to all those bolts and gems you have lying around. In addition to the latest slayer update, broad bolts are a cheap new favorite. Better than addy, yet so much cheaper!

For a list of all the bolt heads and their enchanted effects, visit the RS Knowledge Base!

Crystal Bow: I prefer the MSB with rune arrows to the Crystal bow, but this kills at about the same rate and if it keeps you from buying arrows then I’m all for it!

Karil’s C'Bow: If you do barrows runs anyway, why not fire a few bolt racks off? It may be the best Staking or Fight Caves weapon out there. Don’t forget that you can buy racks in Port Phasmatys.

Dorgeshuun C'bow: As fast as your average Crossbow, and much cheaper ammo (bought after Lost Tribe). You only need 28 Ranged!

Knives/Darts: When I make these, I actually prefer darts. Feathers are easier to get than ores, and darts kill just as fast. Either is best used against weaker monsters, such as Fire Giants or Bloodvelds.

Dark Bow: Not the world's best choice in training. Good for pk'ing, that's about it. Prices are dropping a lot, and will become stable.

Hunter C'Bow: Comparable to MSB with Mith/Addy arrows. If you enjoy tracking this is a good perk!

Chinchompas: Possibly the fastest Range Xp out there as they hit multi-target. Again if you Hunt ‘em, use ‘em! Otherwise, they are a serious drain to your cash income.

Salamanders: I haven’t played with these much, but they can train Str, Mage and Range as well as giving you something to do with Herbs you may not use. Most of all though, these are fun and this is a game ya know! Check the Herblore post for tips on making ammo.

Cannon: Still don’t like it, but you can't deny the results!

___________
Range Armor
ˉˉˉˉˉˉˉˉˉˉˉ

D hides: The standard set; from regular leather to Black D, this is the base with which all other armors are compared. Cheap and effective and coming in a variety of styles from FoG, to Treasure Trails to the Crafting skill this is your default costume.

Void Knight: Excellent for fighting things you don't miss often in other range gear. Increases level by 15%, which includes damage done! Wear this any time you can.

Karil's Set: Mainly used for it's high Mage resistance, I choose D hides over Karil's every time I'm ranging

Showoff Gear: Third age, Armadyl, even the Archer Ring is not worth the cost from an effectiveness standpoint despite having higher stats than your standard black D. The purpose of these items is to show off, so wear them with pride if you can afford 'em!

Boots: Having only three range boosting selections to choose from is much better than one or none in the old days! Frog boots (+2), Snakeskin (+3), and Ranger (+8) are some of the most expensive bonuses you can buy. Spend your money here last for best results!

Hats: We've come a long way from the days of Cowl or Coif, but much like the boots, higher range bonuses get expensive. Two often overlooked helms are Penance Ranger and Spined. Both have the same +6 to range that the standard Archer helm has without the cost or requirements to wear

__________
What to Kill
ˉˉˉˉˉˉˉˉˉˉ

Slayer is a great way to train range. Although the Xp rates are a bit lower, you profit from nearly all tasks you don't use a cannon for.

Dragons are my favorite target. They support crafting and prayer and make money like no other. Please see the Bestiary for Range tips on nearly all Dragons, and the Prayer and Crafting posts for tips on using the drops!

Demons are popular to range. Try the Lesser in the Wizard Tower, Greaters in the Ogre Enclave, or the Blacks in Taverley, under Edgeville, or the Chaos Tunnels (high Crimson charm drop rate here!). High Hp, mediocre defense, and decent drops make these great for those who want good Xp rates without constantly staring at the screen.

Elves are commonly ranged in the Elf Camp (NW Tirannwn) but more often melee’d in Lletya due to the proximity to an altar. They are exceptional droppers, having essentially the same drops as dragons, except they cough up premade, alchable green d hide and clues often. Never fight the ranger elves though!

If you must range Fire Giants, there is one up for Ranging in the back of the Smoke Dungeon near Fareed’s cave. It’s a long trip, but you’ll be the only one there!

For lower level Rangers who trained their melee skills up first, you may consider Melee/Range fighting. If you pick a monster that can’t hurt you, such as Men, Chaos Druids, Cows and Chickens etc… then you don’t need safespots to range. Even very low level NPCs drop useful Herbs and other supplies. All you have to do is actually pick them up!

Even higher level rangers can find close quarters fighting with knives to be profitable. Chaos Druids, Banshees Cave slimes, Desert Goats, and Mos Le'Harmless Snakes are all level 35- monsters worth 500 to 2K Gp per kill. Ranging them you can stand put and have them bring the drops to you

And finally, Aviansies. Commonly hunted either for Armadyl kill count or the fact they are exceptional addy bar droppers, they're also fairly good experience. Many people like to bring pray pots and pray against them, but it's now seen as safe to tank them with the right equipment. As they are found in GWD, it's always highly recommended to bring at least one item of the other gods, excluding Bandos possibly Not a far walk from the Trollheim tele spot, their position really does help and their drops will probably make you happy !

Quests
=====

I suggest doing every Runescape Quest that comes out the day it comes out. They almost always carry something useful, even if it’s not “High Level”. If you are fairly new to runescape members you can easily be overwhelmed by the sheer number of red names on that Quest List. Just take them one at a time and you’ll get there. Yes I did them all, without guides (except MEP2, which was nasty!) and no I DON’T HELP WITH QUESTS OR WRITE QUEST GUIDES!

In version one I had 2 full posts listing the uses of almost every quest in the game. I did it to make a point; even “Nooby” quests are in fact very useful. A great example is Tower of Life, which got as many rants as any quest I’ve seen. But if you actually use the Minigame it opens up, you’ll find it to be invaluable at collecting Herblore seconds and feathers and it can be fun if you let it!

Don’t let others detour you from enjoying your Runesape Game. If you don’t do things that people deem as “Nooby", then all you’ll do is GWD all day long!

Be warned not to take your best gear into a boss fight for the first time! You may not live to regret it...

Dan's Charos Uses Guide:

Creature of Fenkenstrain to get the ring
Garden of Tranquillity to get it activated (a). Only need to start!

Uses:

- Entering the Werewolf Agility Course
- Choosing a cat (why you would want to???)
- Cheap access to blast furnace
- Free travel to Karamja from Ardy and Port Sarim
- Changing your Fremennik name
- Flying magic carpets for cheaper
- Selling fur in Varrock for higher price
- Cheap cart rides to and from Keldagrim
- Free ride from Morton to the swamp (fairly useless again)
- Less of your gold being taken by the dwarf when using Between a rock gold mine and using him to bank
- Allowed to use bass instead of shark to get a new enchanted lyre in Relekka.
- Free boat rides to the Fishing Colony (during Swan Song)

These are the monsters that can be particularly useful. They drop the items listed often and typically in a stackable form. They are also easy to fight for a well-rounded player with all of the equipment and travel options open to them. Many also drop alchable (600+ gp) items frequently.

If you’re short the 82 thieving, Chaos Druids can also be found in the Blood rune tower and the Edgeville dungeon. Also, Chaos Druid warriors have essentially the same drops; just replace Mith Bolts with Limps.
There are plenty of big game hunting guides out there as well. As a DIYer, you can strive to kill all of them for their drops or just for fun, but there is no shame in buying first and getting a drop later

_______
Dragons
ˉˉˉˉˉˉˉ
From Green to Mith, Dragons are some of the most useful training for both cash and Xp in the game, so there's an entire section of the Bestiary devoted solely to dragonslaying. From mediocre combat skills to maxed out stats there's something for everyone, so please enjoy! And if you don't want to be Bar-B-Que, take some fire insurance with you.

Green dragons
ˉˉˉˉˉˉˉˉˉˉˉˉ
Green dragons (lvl 79) are the weakest fully grown dragons and easily beaten. With the right techniques these are easily the best for Hide collecting, and really good cash as well. There’s also a bad side however, they’re all in the wilderness.

- In the far east corner of the Wilderness, just east of Clan Wars.
This place is an absolute no-no, unless you’re desperate, or very high leveled. Although there are a lot of green dragons here, this place can be more crowded than your average bank. You’ll waste a lot of time looking for a dragon to kill, which really isn't worth it.

- In the far west corner of the Wilderness, near the Dark Warrior’s Fortress.
There are 3 green dragons here. It’s not the best spot, because it can be quite crowded and even though it’s low level Wilderness, it’s still Wilderness.

- In the Chaos Tunnels. Use the entrance north of the GE.
This is probably the best spot for green dragons. It’s not in the Wilderness and it’s usually quiet. The only annoyance can be the 4 baby black dragons that also lurk there. They can be trapped if they're a problem, or can even be healed on with Guthans. Handy if you're burying the bones there

Blue dragons
ˉˉˉˉˉˉˉˉˉˉˉ
When it comes to bone collecting, blue dragons are probably your best choice. They are level 111, so if you are a low level player, pray while meleeing or range them.

- Below the Heroes Guild.
There is only one dragon here, and usually there is already someone killing it. Not recommended.

- Taverley Dungeon.
This is probably the best known spot to kill blue dragons, and that’s why you should avoid it; it is too crowded. However, there are some advantages. At 70 agility you can use the shortcut, which makes it the closest spot to a bank. It also has a few safespots for rangers and halberds.

- The Ogre Enclave beneath Gu’Tanoth.
This is the best spot to kill blue dragons. Although it has grown in popularity, it is still usually less populated than the other two areas. There are 6 blue dragons in the cave, all with safespots. It’s quite a walk to the nearest bank, but simply Duel ring tele to CW and you can nearly make it all the way back to the cave on run energy alone. If you're using a Bull Ant of T-Bird to carry hides, one spec scroll will put you right back in the fight!

Red dragons
ˉˉˉˉˉˉˉˉˉˉˉ
Red dragons aren’t very good for bone collecting because all spots are in very remote locations. At 152 combat, they pack quite a punch as well. These are best killed solely for the hides with your best BoB alongside.

- Red Dragon Isle
Since this spot is in about level 40 Wilderness, just being there is dangerous for your health! There is a large chance you’ll get a visit from several revenants, and the closest bank is in Bounty Hunter.

- Brimhaven Dungeon
A lot better compared to Red Dragon Isle, however, still not great. Although the Dungeon entrance is close to the Brimhaven POH portal, the walk through the tunnel is quite long and you need to bring a hatchet to chop through the vines (it can be dropped after). There's one good range spot, once the dogs stop attacking that is, along the far west wall where you can attack two dragons from.

Black dragons
ˉˉˉˉˉˉˉˉˉˉˉ
Black dragons are best killed with aid of your Black Mask on a slayer task, backed up by Melee protect, Super Atk/Str pots, and the Str prayer of your choice. Yes, they're that nasty, even for higher leveled fighters. If you choose the Range route, 90+ Range with projectiles that cost more than 100 Gp each are strongly recommended. Don't even attempt Mage unless you just enjoy autocasting runes.

- Taverley Dungeon
Especially with 70 or 80+ Agility, it becomes useful to use the Taverley Dungeon to Melee/Range Black Dragons and Demons. You’ll want to bring an Anti pot for the Poison Spiders. Best routes are Duel ring to CW to bank and a Taverley House tele/Balloon ride back, or just use your butler to bank for you.

- Evil Chicken's Lair
More convenient than Taverley, and less crowded due to quest requirements, this should be your first choice. All four Black dragons can be Meleed or Ranged and you'll often be able to take two to yourself. Glory tele to Draynor may be slightly faster than running to the Zanaris bank and back thanks to the weight of the hides, but you’ll have to recharge the glories and carry your Drayman/Lunar staff with you.

Bronze dragons
************
Best tip for Bronze dragons, run past them! If you can kill these, you can kill Irons and Irons have a far better chance of dropping the Dragon weapons and armor you're after. They can be found in Brimhaven Dungeon or the Chaos Tunnels, but are seriously not worth the time!

Iron/Steel dragons
ˉˉˉˉˉˉˉˉˉˉˉˉˉˉˉ
Both only found just past the Bronze Dragons in the Brimhaven Dungeon, these are very popular for many reasons. Duradel loves to assign them, they have tremendous drops, including that ever so coveted Visage, and they're excellent low clicking Mage Xp that could actually be profitable! These are best Melee'd only on Slayer tasks combined with Black Mask, Super Sets, Melee and Str prayers, and Anti-fire pots, or Ranged with Diamond bolts (e).

They are much better than Black dragons for Maging though. Common battle spells for Metal Dragons are Slayer Dart, Bolt spells with Chaos Gauntlets, Blast/Wave Spells, Ancient Magiks, or Claws of Guthix with the Void Knight Mace for the auto casting. Claws of Guthix is recommended because it lowers defense, hits very hard when charged, and because Blood runes are common drops. Not to mention they're cheaper than most Ancient Mage spells.

Brutal Green dragons
ˉˉˉˉˉˉˉˉˉˉˉˉˉˉˉˉˉ
Just like the Bronze, if you can handle these you can take the stairs down into the Mith dragons for much better drops! They do drop two Green D hides per kill, but you can kill two normal Greens faster, and these do not drop Visages!

Runescape Gold

Mithril dragons
ˉˉˉˉˉˉˉˉˉˉˉˉ
Only found in The Ancient Cavern after completing some Barbarian Training tasks, these are the last stop on the dragonslaying trail. These are your best chance at a Visage, but even if you don't get one you'll nearly make up the cost of your supplies with just the Mith bars and D bones. Since it's single combat, a BoB or healing familiar is good to bring, but they won't jump in the pool with you so you'll have to dismiss them each run. Also, Pineapple pizzas are great food for these, as well as the full range of Pots and Prayers. Spare no expense fighting these or they're not worth your time!

I suggest sticking with the two spawns closest to the entrance, the closest if you wish to Melee and the northern one if you're ranging. Again, Diamond bolts (e) are recommended for Rangers, and Karils for either method as they have a nasty Mage and Range attack. Pray Melee if you're Melee'ing and pray Range if you're ranging and just take the Mage attacks on the chin. Do NOT forget a one click tele. You will take damage and if you get too comfortable you can lose a lot of cash dying here!

And do you play other games? Such as Maple Story , Lotro and so on.

FAQ
====

Q: If this is a DIY guide, why do you buy stuff? Shouldn't you earn it?

A: I did earn it. My whip cost me 4.3M when I bought it. Here years later, I'm still 15 Slayer levels shy of getting a drop myself. I have no problem rewarding the hard work of others, and there is no autoer market for Whips, Dragon Items, Treasure Tails, or Barrows gear. What else am I supposed to spend my Runescape Gold Millions on?

Q: You help people all the time! You give away free stuff, guide lost players on their first Treasure Trail, and even give quest support! Why don't you tell them to DIY?

A: Of course I help people. When I started playing that was more common than it is now. I would not have gotten where I am today without the support of others and it just feels good!

The guide is my largest gesture of that same help. I TOLD you how I DIY, all my tips and tricks that I earned I gave freely and you've responded in kind with great tips you've worked for. You've made my RS experience better for it and I hope I've enriched yours as well.

Q: This isn't DIY, this is just fighting monsters for drops instead of working for your stuff!

A: There are many ways to DIY. My reason for writing the guide was to shed light on ALL the in game features you can use to collect raw materials. Hence my Temple Trekking guide, and my support of using the Kingdom Managing to collect materials for you.

True, there are many more hardcore DIYers out there than myself. Most support this guide and many have submitted tips!

Q: Buying materials is the fastest way to level skills!

A: Did you count the time you spent making that money to buy the skills? If you merchanted, how much Xp did you get? Do you really think that everyone can make 2 mil a day? Are you still sure that everyone will gain more total Xp and money your way?

NOTE: If you plan on disproving the entire guide with something as simple as buying vs. mining Ess, it won't work!

WARNING! I will not be held responsible for Item Loss whilst you read this guide!

Have you tried Temple Trekking recently? If not, check out the Guide (QFC on the Front page). It is an excellent source of Pure Ess, Bowstrings, Silver, Herbs and also just a lot of fun!

Trouble Brewing is also a fun source of FREE Xp! QFC on the Front page.

Do ALL of the quests! If you don't want to do them all, then don’t do Gertrude’s Cat! Of course, that will stop you doing several others that are more useful, but man do I hate other peoples cats!

Put all teleports in your house! Covered later, but it is just that important! Also, feel free to change your house location to use it as a teleport location. The time this saves makes up for the moving charges.

Almost all the monsters I list drop items for not just one, but several skills. Mindlessly killing Experiments is not what the DIYer is about.

Remote locations near any teleport site aren't so remote. Simply use a Duel ring, Glory ammy, or Games neck to bank with and then teleport back. I use teleports in nearly all of my training sites.

Speaking of teleports, the new Slayer rings are excellent for getting all over RS. Not only do they provide the best access to remote Slayer sites, but thanks to a Fairy ring at the Slayer cave a Slayer ring charge is now the quickest way to access the Fairy Ring network.

Use elf crystals, ectophials, or teletabs as one click safety teleports anytime you're going into a dangerous area. Yes, even if you've done Barrows a thousand times before.

Don't walk anywhere! Have as many teleport items as you can make/afford. Have enough Dragonstone jewelery, Duel rings, Games necks, teletabs, Law runes, and what-not to use without having to worry about running out!

There are two things to consider when choosing a world, population and lag. Naturally, too much lag slows training to a crawl. Also, high world populations means much faster respawn times on everything from Rune Rocks to Rock Slugs, but there's a better chance of a training site being populated. On the other hand, German, QC, and other slow servers may respawn slow but give you the opportunity to monopolize those Catherby Yew trees. Experiment and learn which worlds are best for your training needs.

A DIYer always does the clues they get. If it’s in the game, you can get it!

Farming can be done while doing anything else. If you know you’re going past a farming patch anyway, go ahead and plant something. Toadflax, tomatoes, and Marigold seeds are good for casual planting, and can be profitable without much risk of loss.

If you’re not Melee fighting, there’s no reason not to wear Ava's Accumulator from the Animal Magnetism quest. I know you want to show off, but if I can bank the full dragon, Guthans, and my QP cape, you can too. The free arrows really add up, and it even works with Granite plates if you are Melee fighting

Use the sound effects and the chat window to your advantage. You typically finish an action about halfway through the animation. This is particularly useful for repetitive clicking tasks like flax picking, alching, and thieving.

Also you may find the one-button setting useful when you have to right click often.

As the saying goes, one man’s trash…If the guy next to you doesn’t want his gems or coins or runes or whatever don’t be afraid to pick them up. Other than the word “Noob” there is nothing stopping you.

Learn how to drink energy pot WHILE you're running. Sure you'll lose one inventory slot, but you'll save a lot of time. This is especially handy while RCing.

Strange fruit is just another free energy restore built into the game itself. Save ‘em and use ‘em. Don't forget the White Fruit from the Garden of Tranquility quest either!

Learn to use the GE more effectively. Selling for 1 gp below market price, or buying for 1 gp above often bumps you to the head of the line.

Join a Skilling Clan, Player Guild or an RS business if you're finding yourself getting bored easily. Making a G&A thread to keep track of your progress can add meaning and enjoyment to your skill goals, especially if you're experimenting with various training techniques to write a guide about your experiences.

Use the saltwater spring prior to starting a quest for temporary non stop run. "As a First Resort..." needed to access and can be useful for all kinds of activities!

Here are some useful routines to get into.

Daily Checklist:
ˉˉˉˉˉˉˉˉˉˉˉ
- Buy Battlestaves from Za* * up to 64 w/ Varrock Lvl3 armor
- Buy Seaweed (80) and Pineapples (40) from Arhien in Catherby
- Visit Bert the Sandman for free sand (84)
- Kill Bork if you can!
- Mine a Shooting star for great mining Xp, ore mining boosts, and cash and runes!

Weekly Checklist:
ˉˉˉˉˉˉˉˉˉˉˉˉˉ
- Tears of Guthix
- Kingdom Managing (refill coffers and favor at least weekly for best results!)
- Jade Vine (check every other day, first for 1500 Farm Xp and if not replanted kill it for 2500 Slayer Xp)
- Find penguins for up to 15 penguin points (97.5K cash or level based Xp in chosen skill)
- Perform in the circus for ~5-25K Xp in Range, Mage, and Agility

Runescape DIY - Part II

The original reason this guide was written was to combat the plague of RWT and bots by showing people that they could have fun playing this game without aid of autoers. Jagex had they're own ideas about how to fix this problem though However, without bots driving down the price on raw materials it has become even more profitable to adopt a DIY attitude, so we've redoubled our efforts to ensure that you can take advantage of this brave new RS!

This Runescape guide will attempt to instruct you in a variety of in-game features such as Combat, Mini games, Teleports, and Quest areas that significantly reduce the time of collecting raw materials. And I get bored easy so I’ve found many ways to make the mundane a little less mundane!

If you read and follow the advice in this guide, you will no longer be a slave to fluctuating market prices, overcrowded training areas, or any new scam that comes along. If everyone follows this guide, the aforementioned maladies will cease to exist! Of course, it will take much more than one guide to do that for everyone, but it's enough for just you

Here begins the guide. Each post will contain a skill, my preferred training areas, tips on multitasking while training, and of course, how to Do It Yourself!

If you've already read a DIY 5 series, check the ERRATA on Post 5 for changes that are made daily! Don’t forget player tips on Page 11!

DIY = Do It Yourself! Please note that this is not a “Get Rich Quick” or “Fastest way to 99 Guide”. This Do It Yourself guide exposes many ways to quickly and effectively add raw material collection into your training routine. If you use this guide correctly, you'll be able to gather many skill building materials yourself faster than you can buy them!

Yes I know there are faster ways to do many things, but not everyone plays for P-hats and skill capes!

First, a little about how a DIY'er plays:

1) Everything in RS is free. All you have to do is get it!
2) Skills support other skills in more than the obvious Fish/Cook relationship
3) All quests are worth the time, period!
4) You lose money/exp every time you buy/sell raw materials
5) The best areas are vacant so log onto busy worlds to decrease the respawn times
6) The Game should be FUN! This is not WORK!

Olympic highs and lows

One of the most special feelings I had during the Olympics came right at the end. The closing ceremony was a memory. The torch had been passed to London. I finished my story in the press gallery of the stadium and was walking along the Olympic Green.

People were extraordinarily joyful. Thousands of couples and families milled outside, taking photos of one another. Some held up flashlights in the shape of Olympic torches or draped themselves in flags.

It was very multinational. For some reason, a guy was speaking in French over the loudspeaker system. I saw people sitting on the cleanly mown grass in common areas eating snacks as if such an activity were normal in Beijing. No signs to keep off the grass or worries about the usual animal or human filth in green areas.

It really was the first time I’d had a chance to take in the beauty of the Bird’s Nest at night with its glowing red underneath the silver girders. The water cube was also in full splendor, with patches of magenta moving gracefully along the translucent blue panels.

Everybody was extraordinarily relaxed. For the Chinese, the tensions were over. The country did well. Nothing major disrupted the Games. Foreign tourists were happy, all for various reasons. For a moment, the real meaning of the Olympics, the common quest of humans to take joy in sport, accomplishment and each other, seemed to descend on Beijing.
///
Chinese athletes did extraordinarily well in individual sports in the Olympics.

But I must say what really grabbed my attention at the Games were two powerhouse countries of sport: Australia and Jamaica. Pound for pound, they are athletic champions without rival.

Jamaica, with its population of less than three million people, took six gold medals and 11 total medals. Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt captured three world records. Despite admonishments from IOC chief Jacques Rogge to tone down his antics (see my story here and video here), Bolt would not be slowed.

For its part, you couldn’t walk a block around Beijing, at least where I hang out, without coming across an Aussie contingent of fans cheering on their athletes, who won 14 gold medals and 46 medals overall, coming in fifth among all nations.

I ran into my colleague Rowan Callick of The Australian newspaper at the beach volleyball venue one day, and he explained that one reason is the extraordinary support Australian taxpayers give for sport. No politician in Oz dares suggest taking money away from sports programs or recreation centers.
///
One of the extraordinary moments, for me at least, was the chance to stand in what are called “mixed zones” at the different venues. These “mixed zones” are cordoned areas where athletes pass once the competition is over and can talk to journalists. At some venues, it was a mob scene, as when Bolt smashed the 100-meter dash record at the Bird’s Nest. At other times, it was utterly relaxed. I chatted up Natalie Cook, an Australian beach volleyball player, about how she felt about the weather and smog in Beijing, without having a whit of an idea who she was. Not till later did I find out she’s a bit of a legend.

I also was in a crowd of journalists around Paula Radcliffe, the world champion marathoner, as she talked about why she failed again to capture an Olympic medal. She broke down into tears twice in 10 minutes. And the journalists were clearly moved (I was, for sure). Here’s my story on that.
///
On the final morning, Rogge, the IOC chief, offered a final press conference and was asked what was the most memorable moment of the Games were for him.

He brought up something I hadn’t been aware of because I’d had my head buried in other Olympics-related matters.

But at the shooting venue, it was déjà vu all over again for U.S. target shooter Matt Emmons.

As Rogge reminded us, Emmons was the guy who threw away a gold medal in Athens four years ago by shooting at the wrong target on the last of his 130 shots.

"This is something already very painful," Rogge said.

Well, Emmons did it again in Beijing. He shot brilliantly during the entire competition until the very end, when his rifle fired accidentally into the air, costing him another gold medal.

"Again leading and being very close to gold, he took his rifle, put his hand on the trigger and, for some reason, the trigger went off," Rogge said.

Rogge said he admired Emmons' resilience after again losing gold. Emmons vowed to be there in London 2012 to try to win gold for a third time.

“This is the true spirit of the Olympic Games. The Games is not only about winning, not only about being triumphant. It is about the struggle of every athlete every day to achieve his or her own limits and having this resilience,” Rogge said.

"Let's hope he does come back."

On a final personal note, I mentioned a few months back that my youngest daughter would be participating in one of the Olympics ceremonies. We never knew whether it would be the opening or closing ceremony. She and some 150 of her classmates at Fangcaodi Elementary School were picked to sing the Greek national anthem, and there they were on the field during the closing ceremony.

From where I was sitting in the press section, I couldn't pick her out. But a good friend of ours who is a photographer for the AFP news agency (and who hadn't seen our daughter for eight years) recognized her and shot this photo.

I kept looking up at the big screen to see if her face would appear. It never did but we do have the photos.

One other thing: Unlike some singers at the opening and closing ceremonies, these kids weren't lip-synching. They actually had to learn the Greek words.

Beijing 2008 ---Olympics Opening Ceremony

Beijing held its formal opening ceremony today for the 2008 Summer Olympics. The ceremony, held in the National Stadium known as the Bird's Nest, was attended by thousands, and watched by millions more on television. Below are some highlights of the nearly 4-hour performance. (7 photos total)
